SUSTech Vice President Teng Jinguang and Director of the Office of Research Zhao Yusheng was joined by Robosea General Manager Xiong Minglei. Head of the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering Rong Yiming hosted the ceremony. Zhang Wei, Executive Director of the Joint Lab, Li Qiao, Director of Education Research, Boya Gongdao (Beijing) Robotics Co., Ltd., and Senior leaders from SUSTech and Robosea were also in attendance.
Vice President Teng Jinguang put forward specific requirements for training oceanographic talents in the joint laboratory. He hoped that SUSTech and Robosea would complement each other and strengthen industry-university research in intelligent scientific marine equipment.
Robosea General Manager Xiong Minglei said that he hoped to further strengthen cooperation with SUSTech by building a leading domestic research team. He wants to promote domestic marine equipment technology of an international standard, and strives to achieve major technological breakthroughs in underwater robots.

Director Xie Guangming of the Joint Laboratory said that the SUSTech-Robosea Marine Equipment Joint Laboratory will aim to cultivate oceanographic talents and promote the transformation of technological achievements. Their research will focus mainly on technological innovations in underwater robot design and manufacturing, research into the theory and method of intelligent equipment design, and the use of marine big data. The SUSTech-Robosea Marine Equipment Joint Laboratory will actively promote industry-university research, along with exchanges and cooperation around underwater robot technology and intelligent marine equipment. It seeks to development a world-class intelligent marine equipment R&D base.
